Abu Dhabi: The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi has reached an exciting milestone as it now has 70 new patents waiting for approval. These patents cover many advanced technology fields, showing that the UAE is becoming a strong leader in global science and innovation.
TII’s work comes from nine research centers that study important areas like artificial intelligence and computer science, robotics, advanced materials, quantum technology, space and rocket engines, renewable energy, secure computer systems, cryptography, and directed energy.
Dr. Chaouki Kasmi, Chief Innovation Officer at TII, said that 2025 is a special year for the institute. It has made big achievements that make the UAE more visible in the world of science and research. One of these achievements is the TII–NVAITC Joint Lab for AI and Robotics, created together with NVIDIA. This is the first lab of its kind in the Middle East, focused on making robots and AI systems smarter and more useful.
TII has also expanded its Falcon AI models, including Falcon H1 and Falcon Arabic, which help make artificial intelligence easier to use in English and Arabic. In the space field, TII successfully tested the UAE’s first liquid rocket engine, a big step for the country’s future in space travel and exploration.
In quantum technology, TII introduced Manarat, a new quantum processor that helps turn scientific experiments into real-life applications. Another cool invention is a tiny 2-mm fiber laser, which can be used in medicine and industry, proving that TII’s team is strong in photonics and engineering.
TII’s Falcon AI family continues to grow. Models like Falcon-H1, Falcon-E, and Falcon 3 are now helping AI understand video, sound, and text together. This allows for video summaries, smart voice assistants, and intelligent vision systems.
TII’s Autonomous Robotics Research Centre is creating robots for real-world jobs, such as delivering goods, checking the environment, and helping smart cities. Meanwhile, the Propulsion and Space Research Centre is designing new rocket engines and space systems that push the UAE closer to its space goals.
Dr. Kasmi said that teamwork and partnerships are key to TII’s success. The institute works with over 100 international partners, helping to develop new technologies faster and make Abu Dhabi a global center for science and innovation. He mentioned the partnership with NVIDIA as a great example of how TII is shaping the future of AI and robotics around the world.
