UAE Weather Update: Temperatures to Drop, Rain and Fog Expected in Coming Months

UAE Weather Update

UAE Weather Update

As the UAE transitions from summer to autumn, residents are advised to brace for unpredictable weather conditions. According to climate experts, the next two months will bring significant fluctuations, including a drop in temperatures, increased humidity, fog, and the possibility of rain.

Dr. Ahmed Habib, a climate expert at the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), explained that the autumn season is known for sudden changes in weather patterns. He noted that shifts in atmospheric pressure and wind can cause unexpected variations, turning a dry, sunny day into a rainy one.

“During this time, we often see rapid changes in weather conditions, similar to what we experience in spring,” Dr. Habib said.

Temperature Drop and Fog Formation

The coming months will bring cooler weather, especially during the night. While temperatures currently range between 42°C and 45°C, they are expected to gradually decrease. By October, daytime temperatures will drop to around 38°C to 42°C, and by November, they will further fall to 35°C to 39°C.

Dr. Habib also highlighted the increased likelihood of fog, particularly in coastal regions. As humidity rises, especially at night and early mornings, fog formation becomes more common.

The Autumn Equinox Marks Seasonal Shift

The autumn equinox, which occurred on September 22, officially marks the start of autumn. During the equinox, the Sun aligns with the equator, creating equal daylight hours for both the northern and southern hemispheres. After this, days will start getting shorter as the region moves toward winter.

The Suhail star, also known as the ‘Star of Yemen,’ was observed on August 24, signaling the end of the hottest part of the summer. This star marks the beginning of a 40-day period, commonly called ‘Sufriya,’ during which temperatures start to cool down.

Humidity and Wind Changes Impacting UAE

September has seen a slight increase in humidity compared to August, leading to higher chances of fog and mist. The average humidity this month has been around 49 percent, contributing to the likelihood of foggy mornings in many parts of the UAE.

The weakening of the Indian monsoon depression, combined with desert thermal lows over the Arabian Peninsula, is influencing the current weather patterns. Strong winds are expected, occasionally causing dust storms and reduced visibility.

Chance of Rain in Northern and Eastern Regions

In some areas of the UAE, particularly the northern and eastern regions, Cumulonimbus clouds may form, bringing rain and thunderstorms. These conditions could extend to interior areas, with varying intensities of rainfall.

Dr. Habib explained that the UAE experiences a shift in wind patterns throughout the day. During late nights and early mornings, southeasterly winds dominate, while in the afternoons and evenings, northwesterly winds take over due to land breeze circulation.

Conclusion: Prepare for Cooler Weather and Fog

As the UAE transitions into autumn and winter, residents should expect a gradual drop in temperatures, along with increased chances of fog, mist, and occasional rainfall. Staying updated on weather forecasts will help residents better prepare for the changes in the coming months.
