UAE to Host International Moon Day Conference in Abu Dhabi in 2025
Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the International Moon Day Conference in Abu Dhabi in 2025. The announcement coincides with the UAE’s celebration of its 53rd Eid Al Etihad and the country’s active participation in Space Week in Luxembourg.
Highlighting Space Exploration
The conference will bring together experts, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from around the world. They will discuss space exploration, its future, and its benefits for life on Earth.
Dr. Salem bin Abdullah Al Wahshi, CEO of the Emirates Council for Work Relations Development, represented the UAE in Luxembourg. During a session led by Dr. Nasr Al-Sahhaf, Chair of the United Nations International Moon Day, officials confirmed Abu Dhabi as the host city for the 2025 event.
The Purpose of World Space Week
World Space Week, established by the United Nations in 1999, celebrates the contributions of space science to improving human life. It is the largest annual space event globally.
Each year, the event focuses on a specific theme. The World Space Week Association and the UN Office of Outer Space Affairs select this theme to ensure a unified global approach. In 2018, the event featured over 5,000 activities in 80 countries.
