UAE President Meets Vietnamese Prime Minister to Boost Relations and Economic Cooperation

Abu Dhabi: In a step towards strengthening international partnerships, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met today with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is on an official visit to the UAE. The leaders discussed various ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in sectors crucial to both nations’ prosperity, including trade, investment, and sustainable development.

Strengthening UAE-Vietnam Economic Ties

The meeting took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed warmly welcomed Prime Minister Chinh, expressing optimism that this visit would foster deeper UAE-Vietnam relations. The two leaders focused on expanding cooperation in vital areas such as economy, trade, renewable energy, culture, and climate action, building on the historic ties that date back to the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993.

Boost in Trade and Investment

Economic collaboration was a central theme, with a focus on furthering the non-oil trade between the UAE and Vietnam. Last year, trade between the two nations reached an impressive $12.12 billion, showing a 38.7% increase from 2022. This makes Vietnam the UAE’s largest non-oil trading partner among ASEAN nations. President Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE’s commitment to fostering economic ties with Vietnam and ASEAN as part of a broader vision for growth.

Shared Vision for Peace and Development

In addition to economic topics, the leaders also discussed regional and international issues, underlining their commitment to peace and stability. They agreed on the importance of resolving conflicts through diplomatic and peaceful means, recognizing that sustainable development depends on a foundation of peace and mutual cooperation.

A Growing Partnership

Prime Minister Chinh expressed Vietnam’s interest in exploring new opportunities for cooperation with the UAE, acknowledging the UAE’s warm hospitality and eagerness to strengthen ties. Following the meeting, he wrote in the Qasr Al Watan guestbook, expressing hope for continued growth and partnership between the two nations.

A luncheon in honor of the Vietnamese delegation followed the meeting, with key ministers and senior officials from both sides in attendance. This visit marks a significant moment in the UAE-Vietnam relationship, highlighting a shared commitment to mutual development and prosperity.
