UAE petrol prices April 2026: Will fuel rates go up after global oil price jump?
Fuel prices have gone up in many countries around the world after fighting in the region pushed oil prices much higher. The UAE is now expected to announce its petrol and diesel prices for April 2026 on March 31.
Countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and other parts of the world have already raised fuel prices. These include Pakistan, the Philippines, the United States, Australia, Cambodia, Chile, Denmark, Nigeria, Nepal, Canada, France, Germany, China, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Brazil, Japan, Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
Other countries that also increased fuel prices include Finland, Austria, Egypt, Poland, Spain, North Macedonia, and Albania.
Reports show that fuel price increases in these countries range from less than 5 per cent to more than 80 per cent. In Europe, average fuel prices rose by around 12 per cent between late February and mid-March. As of March 25, the Philippines recorded one of the biggest jumps, with oil prices rising by more than 80 per cent because of the Middle East conflict.
Why are oil prices rising?
Oil prices jumped after the US-Israel-Iran military conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. This important shipping route is used to move a large amount of the world’s oil. When supplies are at risk, global oil prices usually rise fast.
Brent crude, a key global oil benchmark, climbed from $72.87 per barrel on February 27 to $114.7 per barrel on the morning of March 30. That is an increase of more than 57 per cent.
Will UAE petrol prices increase in April 2026?
The UAE removed fuel price controls in August 2015. Since then, petrol and diesel prices in the country have been linked to global market prices and are updated at the end of each month. Because oil prices have risen strongly in recent weeks, petrol and diesel prices in the UAE are expected to go up in April 2026. The final official prices will be announced on March 31.
In March 2026, the UAE already raised fuel prices by around Dh0.14 per litre in line with global market trends. Current UAE fuel prices for March 2026
- Super 98 increased to Dh2.59 per litre, up from Dh2.45 in February.
- Special 95 rose to Dh2.48 per litre from Dh2.33.
- E-Plus 91 moved up to Dh2.40 per litre from Dh2.26.
- Diesel also increased by Dh0.20, reaching Dh2.72 per litre.
