ABU DHABI: The UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has won the Silver Award at the DFA Design for Asia Awards. These awards are run by the Hong Kong Design Centre and celebrate the best designs in Asia.

The UAE Pavilion was chosen because it shows strong culture, creative ideas, and a design that helps people connect. The building became a popular place at the Expo, sharing stories about the UAE through art, design, and science.

The pavilion’s design is inspired by the famous date palm tree of the UAE. It also uses areesh, a traditional Emirati building style, mixed with special Japanese woodworking skills. One of the most eye-catching parts of the pavilion is its forest of 90 tall columns that reach up to 16 metres. These were created by the Earth to Ether Design Collective, a team of Emirati and Japanese creators working together.

Shihab Al Faheem, UAE Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner General of the Pavilion, said the award shows the power of teamwork. He explained that experts from the UAE, Japan, and other countries joined hands to build a space that shares culture and values with the world.

He also said the pavilion expresses the UAE’s identity and its vision for a future built on openness and progress. More than five million visitors came to the pavilion during the Expo, enjoying its rich stories, unique design, and warm, human message.
