Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Finance is set to participate in the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025, happening from February 11 to 13 in Dubai. Under the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” the event will bring together global leaders to discuss the future of governance, economic challenges, and innovation.

Key Highlights of the Ministry’s Participation

1. Hosting the 9th Arab Fiscal Forum on February 10

On Day 0 of the summit (February 10), the Ministry of Finance will organize the 9th Arab Fiscal Forum in collaboration with the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This event will gather:

  • Arab finance ministers
  • Central bank governors
  • IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva
  • AMF Chairman Dr. Fahd bin Mohamed Al-Turki
  • Economic experts and policymakers

The forum will address critical issues such as public debt management, sustainable economic growth, and climate change under the theme “Fiscal Resilience in an Era of Uncertainty.”

2. High-Level Discussions and Panels

The Arab Fiscal Forum will feature four key panel discussions:

  • Macroeconomic Trends and Fiscal Challenges – Examining global and regional economic developments.
  • Debt Pressures and Fiscal Policy Solutions – Addressing budget deficits and rising interest rates.
  • Climate Resilience and Fiscal Policy – Exploring the economic impact of climate change.
  • Tax System Reforms – Discussing new revenue models and the role of artificial intelligence in taxation.

3. Key Sessions at WGS 2025

Day 1 – February 11

  • “Reimagining the Future of Multilateral Cooperation” (Co-organized with the IMF) – Discussing how global financial institutions can adapt to new geopolitical risks.
  • “GCC Economy and Global Challenges” (With GCC General Secretariat) – Examining economic policies, trade cooperation, and the UAE Vision 2031 strategy.

Day 2 – February 12

  • “Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Social Infrastructure” – Exploring how private sector innovation can improve healthcare, education, and essential services.
  • International Tax Forum – Discussing global tax reforms, including electronic invoicing and cross-border tax rules.

This year’s World Governments Summit will feature:
