Dubai: Thousands of Filipinos came together at the Dubai World Trade Centre to celebrate the 127th Philippine Independence Day, also known as Kalayaan 2025. Over 40,000 people joined the event, filled with music, dancing, food, and joy.

The event was led by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. He thanked the Filipino community for their big role in building the UAE and praised their hard work in areas like health, education, and business. He called the Philippines a true friend of the UAE.

Sheikh Nahyan also spoke about a new writing contest called “What the UAE Means to Me.” People of all ages in the UAE can join by writing poems, stories, or letters about their life in the country. The best writings will be published in books and the winners will get special prizes. Entries can be sent through the website: www.myuaestory.ae

The event was full of colorful performances by famous Filipino artists like Julia Barretto and Jarren Garcia. There were also cosplay shows, singing contests, bike stunts, Filipino food stalls, kids’ games, and even an area called “Cargo Village” for Filipino shipping companies.

Government officials from both the UAE and the Philippines joined the event, showing the strong friendship between the two countries. The Philippines and the UAE have shared warm ties since 1974, and today, many Filipinos call the UAE their home.
