CAIRO: The United Arab Emirates took part in an important meeting about weather and climate with other Arab countries. The meeting was held in Cairo at the headquarters of the League of Arab States.

Dr. Abdulla Ahmed Al Mandous, who is the Director-General of the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology and also the President of the World Meteorological Organization, led the UAE team at the meeting.

Dr. Al Mandous spoke about big problems the Arab world is facing, like rising temperatures that are getting hotter faster than in other parts of the world. This change is making extreme weather like strong storms and very dry seasons happen more often.

He also warned that many Arab countries are running out of water, which can hurt their economies and people’s lives. According to United Nations reports, the Arab region has lost around 60 billion dollars because of disasters like droughts, earthquakes, and floods. Many people have also lost their lives because of these events. The meeting focused on how Arab countries can work together to deal with these serious climate and weather challenges.
