UAE Invites Emirati AI Experts to Join National Experts Programme AI Track

ABU DHABI: The National Experts Programme (NEP) has invited Emirati professionals who work in artificial intelligence to apply for its new AI track. The track is called NEP-AI. Applications will open on January 29, 2026.
The National Experts Programme began in 2019. Since then, it has helped train Emiratis to become leaders in key national sectors. Now, with NEP-AI, the programme aims to build strong national talent in artificial intelligence. A programme for Emirati technical experts to help shape the future of Abu Dhabi and the UAE, the National Experts Program aims to strategically transform future-growth sectors.
NEP-AI was launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The launch took place during the graduation of NEP Cohorts 2.0 and 3.0 in October 2025. Meanwhile, the first group of NEP-AI participants will start the programme in May 2026.
The program supports the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. Its goal is to help place the UAE among the world’s leading countries in AI by developing local talent and skills.
Participants will be selected based on their education and work experience. In addition, leadership skills will play an important role. The programme also looks for experts who can turn ideas into real projects that benefit the country.
NEP-AI covers 25 priority sectors across the national economy. These include areas sach as technology, business, and public services. The programme has six main focus areas. These include AI systems, AI applications, AI startups, national AI capabilities, leadership, and practical AI use.
The programme focuses on action, not just learning. Therefore, it highlights ethics, data use, and responsible AI development. Participants will work on real projects linked to their jobs or sectors.
Finally, each participant will present a final project that offers real and lasting solutions. They will also receive guidance from expert mentors. In addition, they will gain global experience through visits to leading international AI institutions.
The National Experts Programme believes NEP-AI will help strengthen the UAE’s AI future. It will also support national growth across many important sectors.
