UAE Ford Owners Breathe Easy: Local Vehicles Not Impacted by Global SUV Recall

Ford owners in the United Arab Emirates can rest assured – their vehicles are not part of a recent global recall affecting certain Ford SUVs. This news comes directly from a Ford Middle East spokesperson in a statement to Khaleej Times.

The global recall, announced on Thursday, targeted approximately 43,000 compact SUVs due to potential fuel injector leaks that could increase the risk of engine fires. The specific models involved are the 2022-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022 Ford Escape, all equipped with 1.5-liter engines, totaling 42,652 vehicles globally.

“This recall is not happening in our region,” clarified Rasha Ghanem, communications director at Ford Middle East. She further highlighted that only 83 vehicles in Tunisia were affected within the Middle East region.

While a global recall can be concerning for car owners, UAE Ford owners can avoid unnecessary worry. However, Ghanem did emphasize that an extended warranty program will be offered to the impacted vehicles in Tunisia. Specific details on this program will be communicated to affected customers in early June.

The global recall itself focuses on a software update and the installation of a drainage tube. While fuel injector replacement isn’t part of the initial fix, Ford maintains confidence that these measures will effectively prevent fuel leaks and ensure customer safety. The software update detects pressure drops in the fuel injection system, prompting the system to disable the high-pressure fuel pump, reduce engine power, and ultimately lower engine compartment temperatures.

This news provides a sigh of relief for UAE Ford owners and highlights the importance of staying informed about regional car safety updates.
