UAE Dominates Home Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Abu Dhabi recently played host to a significant jiu-jitsu competition, drawing a substantial crowd and a diverse roster of fighters. Jiu-jitsu, a martial art focused on grappling and submission techniques, captivated audiences throughout the three-day event.
Held at the prestigious Mubadala Arena, the championship buzzed with excitement. A remarkable 1,455 young athletes, boys and girls, traveled from 77 different countries to demonstrate their honed skills on the mats.
The final day culminated in a thrilling display of top-tier talent. Ultimately, the host nation, the UAE, emerged victorious, securing the most points to claim the coveted first place. Brazil earned a commendable second, with Colombia rounding out the top three.
Distinguished figures, including Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri and Tariq Omar Al Bahri, were on hand to present the well-deserved awards to the champions.
Tariq Omar Al Bahri, a key figure in the event’s organization, emphasized the championship’s crucial role in fostering jiu-jitsu talent both within the UAE and globally. He expressed immense satisfaction with the event’s execution and extended his gratitude to all contributors.
Gold medalists shared their pride in their achievements. Sultan Jabr, a winner in his category, described his victory in Abu Dhabi as particularly special, considering the city’s reputation as a global hub for jiu-jitsu. Fellow champion Ubaid Al Ketbi acknowledged the intense competition but highlighted the invaluable learning experience it provided.
This inclusive event welcomed competitors of all ages and genders, from budding young enthusiasts to seasoned adult practitioners, underscoring its broad appeal within the jiu-jitsu community. Looking ahead, the international jiu-jitsu circuit anticipates its next major stop in Istanbul next week.
