UAE and US Strengthen AI Partnership at Pax Silica Summit in Washington
WASHINGTON: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) strengthened its partnership with the United States in artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology during the second Pax Silica Summit held in Washington, D.C.
The UAE delegation was led by Minister of State Saeed Al Hajeri. The team also included Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology Omran Sharaf, along with representatives from leading UAE technology companies such as G42, Core42, MGX, and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).
The summit brought together 35 countries and major technology companies to discuss trusted AI supply chains, secure digital infrastructure, and responsible AI development.
During the event, the UAE joined 35 nations in signing the Joint Statement on AI Opportunities. The agreement supports building a safe, trusted, and inclusive global AI system that encourages innovation, protects supply chains, and strengthens digital infrastructure.
The UAE highlighted its growing role as a global leader in artificial intelligence and its commitment to developing AI technologies that are safe, reliable, and beneficial for people around the world.
On the sidelines of the summit, the UAE held meetings with the United States and other Pax Silica members, including Qatar, Finland, India, Israel, the European Union, South Korea, Norway, the Philippines, Costa Rica, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation and creating new technology partnerships under the Pax Silica initiative.
Speaking at the summit, Al Hajeri said the UAE and the United States share a strong strategic partnership built over more than 50 years. He said Pax Silica provides a practical platform to turn their shared vision into real projects and investments.
He added that the UAE is proud to be one of the first Gulf countries to join the initiative and remains committed to supporting its success through joint investments, cooperation, and trusted partnerships.
The UAE continues to work with international partners to use artificial intelligence in ways that support innovation, build trust, create economic growth, and promote sustainable development worldwide. – WAM
