The strong relationship between the UAE and Kuwait is based on deep history and close human ties started by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. Kuwait was one of the first countries to support the UAE when it was formed in 1971 and played an important role in its development. It was also among the first countries to open embassies with the UAE in 1972, showing the long-lasting friendship between the two nations.
