Cairo: Gamal Bayoumi, Secretary-General of the Arab Investors Union, praised the United Arab Emirates for its remarkable progress in the Government Support Index 2025, describing the country as an inspiring model for the region in advancing government performance.
The UAE climbed 27 places in the index, moving from 43rd in 2024 to 16th globally in 2025, according to the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook. Bayoumi attributed this achievement to the forward-looking vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who continues the legacy of the nation’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Bayoumi emphasized that the UAE has strategically leveraged government support to enhance competitiveness, attract investments, and balance economic growth with environmental sustainability. He highlighted that the UAE has consistently kept pace with global progress by implementing international best practices.
He added that Egyptians and Arabs take pride in the UAE’s focus on investing in people, innovation, and sustainable infrastructure, affirming that the country has emerged as a young and dynamic Arab nation with a global outlook.
According to the IMD Yearbook, the UAE also achieved several top global rankings, including:
- 1st worldwide in venture capital and personal income tax collected
- 2nd in corporate profit tax rate
- 3rd in government budget surplus/deficit measured in billions of dollars
