Trump: Gold Imports to US Will Have No Tariffs

Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that gold brought into the United States will not face any import taxes.

“Gold will not be Tariffed!” Trump posted on social media on Monday.

The news came after days of uncertainty in the market. Last week, the White House said it would release a clear policy after a US government agency suggested gold bars could face duties. That statement caused confusion and worry among traders.

Gold prices did not change much after Trump’s post, although they had dropped earlier on Monday.
