Technology Enhances Crowd Management at the Grand Mosque During Umrah Performances
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque is using advanced technology to monitor Umrah performers entering the Grand Mosque. This system, which includes sensor readers, aims to improve crowd management and operational efficiency. It works in partnership with relevant authorities to track crowd movement more effectively.
Smart Cameras Help Monitor Crowds
Smart cameras have been installed at the main entrances to the Grand Mosque. These cameras detect pilgrim movement and provide real-time data, helping identify areas of congestion. This technology is especially useful in managing crowds around the Mataf (the area for circumambulation around the Holy Kaaba) and Mas’a. It ensures smoother movement within these critical zones.
Supporting Safe and Efficient Movement
The new system helps improve crowd distribution and keeps visitors safe, particularly during peak times. By using accurate data, it ensures a smooth flow of entry and exit, enhancing the overall Umrah experience for pilgrims.
Record Number of Pilgrims Managed with Technology
Thanks to this technology, the Grand Mosque recorded its highest number of Umrah performers in a single day, reaching nearly half a million pilgrims. This milestone shows the importance of technology in planning and managing large crowds with precision and efficiency.
