Space42 Launches Future Spacers Program to Develop UAE Talent in Space and AI

Abu Dhabi, September 4, 2026: Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, has launched its Future Spacers Programme, a new initiative designed to develop the next generation of Emirati talent in space technology, artificial intelligence, data management and emerging technologies.
The programme supports the objectives of the UAE National Space Strategy 2031 by providing young Emiratis with practical experience and technical knowledge that can help prepare them for careers in the country’s growing space and advanced technology sectors.
Up to 16 Weeks of Training for Emirati Students
The Space42 Future Spacers Programme offers Emirati students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), artificial intelligence, data management and emerging technologies up to 16 weeks of training at Space42 facilities.
The programme combines theoretical learning with practical industry experience, helping participants understand how space-based technologies are used and how artificial intelligence can support the analysis of large and complex datasets.
Students Selected From Leading UAE Universities and Schools
The inaugural 2026 cohort includes students selected from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and Zayed University.
Students from schools identified by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) are also participating in the programme.
Selection criteria for the first cohort included enrolment in relevant STEM-related fields, meeting a minimum academic GPA requirement and completing interviews.
Preparing Emirati Talent for the Future of Space and AI
The programme aims to prepare students for the increasing convergence of space technology and artificial intelligence, two areas expected to play a growing role in the UAE’s future technology ecosystem.
According to Space42, developing talent before students enter the workforce can provide them with the foundations needed to contribute effectively to the UAE’s space, AI and advanced technology sectors.
The initiative also focuses on helping participants understand how emerging technologies can be transformed into practical solutions for real-world business and industry challenges.
Practical SpaceTech and AI Experience
Future Spacers includes theoretical seminars covering the applications of space-based technologies and the use of AI for large-scale data analysis.
Participants also gain hands-on experience under the guidance of industry specialists, working on challenges linked to business, technology and the wider space industry.
This approach is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world professional requirements.
Developing Professional and Workplace Skills
In addition to technical knowledge, the programme focuses on developing important workplace and professional skills.
Participants receive opportunities to strengthen capabilities including problem-solving, collaboration, communication and adaptability.
These skills are increasingly important for professionals working in multidisciplinary environments across space technology, artificial intelligence, engineering and other advanced industries.
Students who successfully complete the programme will receive Space42 certification recognised by participating partner entities.
Space42 Plans Two Future Spacers Cohorts Each Year
Space42 plans to welcome new Future Spacers cohorts twice a year, supporting continued engagement with universities, schools and educational institutions across the UAE.
The initiative is part of wider efforts to strengthen the national talent pipeline and prepare Emirati students for opportunities in space, artificial intelligence and emerging technology sectors.
By combining technical education, industry exposure and professional development, the Future Spacers Programme is positioned to contribute to the UAE’s long-term goal of building a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting its ambitions in the global space and technology economy.
