UAE racer Alia Fairooz steps up Norway training ahead of world championship

Abu Dhabi: Emirati powerboat racer Alia Abdulsalam Fairooz has stepped up her preparations for the 2026 UIM Formula 4 World Championship by joining an intensive training camp in Songe, Norway.

Fairooz, who represents the 2050Sports F4 Racing Team, will train in Norway from July 25 to August 6. The camp is the final stage of her preparations for a busy international season. After completing the programme, she will travel to Viverone, Italy, to compete in the UIM Formula 4 World Championship from August 7 to 9.

The UAE racer will later return to Norway for the Norwegian Grand Prix in Drammen from August 21 to 23. She is also expected to take part in an attempt to break a world speed record between August 28 and 30.

The camp includes physical fitness sessions and extensive practice on the water. Fairooz is working on boat control, reaction speed, cornering and handling different water and weather conditions. She is also taking part in race simulations designed to recreate the pressure and challenges of a world championship event.

Norwegian coach Per Tralsand, a specialist in Formula 4 powerboat racing, is leading the programme. The team has appointed him to guide Fairooz’s development over the next three years as part of a long-term plan to improve her technical skills, fitness and ability to compete against leading international racers.

The 2050Sports F4 Racing Team said the training programme is designed to help Fairooz compete for a place among the world’s top 10 Formula 4 drivers. She enters the international season after finishing joint third in the 2025 UAE Formula 4 Championship and is also preparing for her third national racing campaign.

Fairooz said the Norway camp was an important step in her sporting career and would help her improve before the upcoming competitions.

“Every lap I complete during this camp brings me one step closer to my goal. I am not only representing myself, but also the United Arab Emirates,” she said.

She added that she wants to show that Emirati women can compete in one of the most demanding forms of motorsport and achieve success at the highest international level.
