A new chapter in Saudi Arabia’s healthcare innovation began with the opening of the “SHIFT” Medical Innovation Center in Riyadh. The center was inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Health Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Rumaih and Siemens Healthineers Board Member Elisabeth Staudinger.

The “SHIFT” center is a joint project between the Ministry of Health and Siemens Healthineers. It was one of the first projects announced during the 8th Global Health Forum and has now moved from planning to real action.

The main goal of the center is to create new medical ideas and technologies that can solve local health challenges in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. It will also support research, build partnerships between hospitals, universities, and startups, and train local experts in new medical technologies.

A key part of the center is the Digi X-Lab, which allows doctors and researchers to use artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to study diseases, develop treatments, and improve patient care faster.

By launching this center, Saudi Arabia aims to become a leading hub for medical innovation in the Middle East and Africa, combining global expertise with local talent to build a healthier future.
