Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Chairs Meeting on Smart and Autonomous Systems in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, chaired a meeting of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC) at Qasr Al Shati.
The meeting discussed the main pillars of a strategic plan focused on developing the future of smart mobility in Abu Dhabi. The plan aims to enhance public transportation using autonomous systems on land, sea, and air.
Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the preparations for the first Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week, which will take place from November 10 to 15, 2025. The event will highlight the latest global technologies and innovations in smart and autonomous mobility.
The council also reviewed the results of the first phase of operational trials for autonomous vehicles and systems across Abu Dhabi. The results showed strong progress in efficiency and safety, and the next phase will expand these trials further.
Updates were also presented on new partnerships and agreements led by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre and other key partners in the smart mobility field.
Sheikh Hamdan stressed the importance of investing in innovation and advanced technology to support a sustainable, knowledge-based economy. He noted that smart mobility is a key driver of Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification.
He also instructed government and semi-government entities to support the creation of start-ups and specialised companies in the smart mobility sector. He called for unified procedures for testing autonomous systems in line with the highest safety and security standards.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi, Sultan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, and Badr Saleem Sultan Al-Olama.
