In a significant stride towards space exploration, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and President of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), has given the green light for the launch of MBZ-SAT, anticipated no earlier than October 2024.

A Proud Moment for UAE’s Space Ambitions

MBZ-SAT stands as a testament to Emirati ingenuity, being 100 percent developed and constructed by a team of local engineers, marking it as the most advanced satellite in the region. Sheikh Hamdan, during his visit to MBRSC’s headquarters, received updates on the satellite’s progress, showcasing its capabilities and strategic deployment plans.

Expressing confidence in MBRSC’s prowess, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the pivotal role of projects like MBZ-SAT in elevating the Arab region’s presence in the global space arena. He hailed the impending launch as a transformative moment, underscoring the UAE’s emergence as a prominent contributor to space technology.

Environmental Testing and Launch Preparations

With the satellite’s development phase completed, the focus shifts to environmental testing, a critical step to ensure its durability in space’s harsh conditions. Following successful testing, final launch preparations will commence, with SpaceX slated to deploy the MBZ-SAT into orbit.

MBZ-SAT’s creation has not only bolstered the UAE’s sustainable space economy but also propelled local aerospace manufacturing.
