Sharjah: Sharjah Women’s Sports Club has achieved remarkable success in its debut at the Thailand International Rowing Championship, held in Bangkok on December 14-15, 2024. Competing against top teams from countries like the UAE, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, the USA, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Germany, the club made a strong statement on the international stage.
Medal-Winning Performances
The club’s under-19 female rowing team excelled in multiple events:
- 500-Meter Individual Race:
- Bushra Qadri claimed the silver medal with a time of 1:52.
- Shamsa Al-Sharyani earned bronze, finishing in 1:57.
- 1000-Meter Doubles Race:
- The pair of Fatima Khalaf and Hamda Qadri secured bronze with a time of 4 minutes.
- 500-Meter Individual Race:
- Bushra Qadri struck gold, finishing in 2:12.
- Hamda Qadri won silver with a time of 2:18, while Shamsa placed fourth in 2:21.
- 500-Meter Doubles Race:
- Bushra and Hamda teamed up to win silver in 2:30.
- Fatima and Shamsa followed closely, earning bronze in 2:32.
Dedication and Hard Work Pay Off
Team coach Sarah Baya praised the athletes for their dedication, noting that their efforts in training led to these impressive results. Administrator Hajar Bashbash highlighted the importance of this achievement, calling it a significant step forward in rowing for the club.
“This is just the beginning for our rowing team. We are proud to see such success in their first international appearance,” said Bashbash.
