New Club to Preserve Heritage and Advance Falconry Sports
Sharjah, February 15, 2025 – H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially inaugurated the Sharjah Falconers Club in the Al Burair area. The opening marks a major step in preserving the heritage of falconry while also promoting modern training and conservation techniques.
State-of-the-Art Facilities for Falconry Enthusiasts
Upon arrival, H.H. Sheikh Sultan unveiled a memorial plaque, marking the official launch of the club’s headquarters. He then toured the facility, which features:
- A lecture hall
- A training center for wireless gliding and drone simulation
- A specialized library for falconers
- Administrative offices and a falconers’ lounge
The exhibition area showcases traditional and modern falconry tools, along with the latest devices used in international competitions.
Training and Education for the Next Generation
The Ruler of Sharjah met with students enrolled in specialized training programs, where they learn theoretical and practical falconry skills. He was also briefed on the club’s expansion plans and efforts to compete in local and global championships.
A key highlight was a presentation on the Sharjah Bird Breeding Centre. This new project will allow falconers to breed and raise birds more efficiently while ensuring their health and conservation. The Sharjah Falcon Breeding Centre was officially approved during the event. This facility will provide a natural environment for birds, supporting their mating, breeding, and health care in collaboration with Al Dhaid University.
Protected Area for Falconry Activities
To further support falconry, H.H. Sheikh Sultan also approved the designation of a protected area around the club. This will ensure a safe and suitable environment for training and practicing falconry.
Honoring Falconry Champions
During the ceremony, the Board of Directors of the club expressed their gratitude to the Ruler of Sharjah for his continuous support of the sport. Falconers who have won local and international competitions were honored with the Distinguished Falconer Shield, recognizing their achievements and dedication.
Advanced Falconry Healthcare Services
As part of his visit, H.H. Sheikh Sultan also inspected the Sharjah Falconers Club Clinic, the largest of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region. This cutting-edge facility offers:
- A modern laboratory
- A feather splinting room
- A falconry operating theater
- A CT scan machine, the first in the region
- A specialized center for falconry sports equipment
The clinic provides advanced medical treatments for birds, including initial check-ups, internal endoscopy, and fungal infection diagnosis. It also offers mobile clinics and health awareness programs to ensure the well-being of falcons.
New Shelter for Falcons
The Ruler of Sharjah also visited “Al Muqayd” falcon shelter, a facility capable of housing 500 birds. This shelter meets international health standards, featuring air purifiers, temperature control, and humidity sensors to create an ideal environment for falcons, especially those from Siberian regions.
Preserving a Proud Heritage
The Sharjah Falconers Club aims to preserve the rich heritage of falconry, ensuring that the sport’s traditions and values are passed on to future generations. The club serves as a hub for falconry enthusiasts, offering them a space to practice, learn, and share knowledge.

The grand opening was attended by Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Public Works, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department, and other key officials from the sports and municipal sectors.
