SINGAPORE: In a landmark achievement, Sharjah Football Club emerged victorious in the AFC Champions League 2 final on Sunday, securing their first-ever continental title with a dramatic 2–1 win over Singapore’s Lion City Sailors.
The final, held at Bishan Stadium in Singapore, saw an electrifying finish. Sharjah took the lead in the 74th minute through Firas Belarbi. Lion City responded with a stoppage-time equalizer from Maxime in the 91st minute, igniting hopes for the hosts. However, Sharjah’s Marcus Meloni silenced the home crowd with a stunning winner in the 97th minute.
This triumph marks a historic moment for Sharjah FC, not only for clinching their maiden Asian title but also for being crowned champions of the inaugural edition of the restructured AFC Champions League 2 tournament.
