Sharjah: The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has announced the opening of submissions for the prestigious Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) Awards 2025, with entries accepted until 15th September.

The awards honour authors and publishers whose literary and academic works have enriched Arab and international cultural landscapes. They reflect SBA’s commitment to fostering knowledge, creativity, and cultural dialogue, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

With a total prize fund of AED 625,000, the awards are divided into four main categories: the Sharjah Award for Emirati Books, the Sharjah Award for the Best Arabic Novel, the Sharjah Award for the Best International Book, and the Sharjah Publisher Recognition Award.

The Sharjah Award for Emirati Books carries a value of AED 300,000 across four subcategories, including AED 100,000 prizes for Best Emirati Novel and Best Emirati Academic Book, and AED 50,000 each for Best Emirati Creative Literature (Theatrical Texts) and Best Emirati First Novel.

The Best Arabic Novel Award offers AED 150,000, shared equally between author and publisher, in recognition of originality, creativity, and engagement with contemporary Arab issues.

The Best International Book Award, valued at AED 100,000, is split between Best International Fiction and Best International Non-Fiction, while the Publisher Recognition Award, worth AED 75,000, honours outstanding publishing houses across three subcategories: Best Local Publisher, Best Arab Publisher, and Best International Publisher.

SBA invited creatives, authors, and publishers worldwide to participate, reaffirming Sharjah’s position as a global hub for literature, publishing, and knowledge exchange.

Applications remain open until 15th September, subject to eligibility criteria focused on literary and publishing contributions.
