Saudi Minister Highlights Growing Investment Potential with India
Riyadh, February 8, 2025: Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is opening new doors for strategic partnerships with India in industry and mining. Bandar Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, emphasized this during a roundtable meeting in Mumbai. The event was held in cooperation with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and included major Indian industrial and mining companies.
Key Areas of Cooperation
Saudi Arabia and India share strong economic ties, with support from both governments. The meeting focused on three major sectors that offer promising opportunities for collaboration.
1. Automotive Industry
Saudi Arabia is one of the largest car importers in the region. Last year, the Kingdom imported 700,000 vehicles, and this number is expected to exceed 1 million soon. To reduce dependency on imports, Saudi Arabia has licensed three car manufacturers and aims to produce 300,000 vehicles annually by 2030. This initiative requires a robust supply chain, creating investment opportunities for Indian companies in manufacturing and spare parts.
2. Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology
The Kingdom is eager to expand cooperation with Indian pharmaceutical companies. India has a strong biotech and pharmaceutical industry, which aligns with Saudi Arabia’s goal of boosting local production and medical research.
3. Petrochemicals and Minerals
Saudi Arabia is shifting its focus from energy security to mineral security. The country aims to produce high-value petrochemicals and strengthen mineral supply chains. By working closely with India, Saudi Arabia hopes to meet growing industrial demands and create sustainable partnerships.
Saudi Arabia’s Investor-Friendly Policies
Saudi Arabia is actively attracting foreign investors by offering several benefits:
- Industrial zones with advanced infrastructure.
- Ready-made factories for businesses looking to start quickly.
- Financing support, covering up to 75% of industrial project costs.
A Promising Future for Saudi-Indian Trade
Saudi Vision 2030 is reshaping the economic landscape, making it an ideal time for Indian businesses to explore new partnerships. With strong government support, growing investment incentives, and a shared vision for industrial growth, both nations are set to achieve long-term economic success.
