Saudi Girl Scouts Take on Active Role in Assisting Hajj Pilgrims
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Over 220 members of the Saudi Girl Scout Committee, under the Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association, are actively assisting pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season. This marks a significant increase from the 150 girl scouts who volunteered in 2023.
Empowering Young Women Through Service
The initiative is part of the association’s public service camps organized in Makkah, Madinah, and the surrounding holy sites. Deputy chairman Abdulrahman Al-Mudaires highlighted the organization’s commitment to expanding opportunities for girl scouts to participate in such camps.
“Our goal is to empower young girls, utilize their skills and talents, and broaden their options for volunteer work,” Al-Mudaires stated. This aligns with the growing participation of Saudi women in national development, where they are taking on crucial roles in various sectors, including volunteerism and community service. He emphasized that the initiative promotes equal opportunities for both genders within Saudi society.
Girl Scouts Making a Difference
Al-Mudaires acknowledged the significant contributions of Princess Sama bint Faisal bin Abdullah, chairwoman of the Saudi Girl Scout Committee. “Princess Sama’s dedication to integrating girl scouts into diverse volunteer activities has been instrumental in their achievements and contributions,” he said.
Building on Past Success
The 2023 Hajj season saw 150 girl scouts volunteer at King Faisal Hospital in Makkah, providing services to pilgrims. They also partnered with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to guide pilgrims during their holy journey.
This year’s expanded participation reflects the ongoing commitment to empower and support Saudi girls, enabling them to excel and make meaningful contributions to society.
