Symbol of Unity and Ambition Embarks on 3,500km Odyssey

The countdown to the third Saudi Games has officially begun with the lighting of the torch relay in Diriyah. The flame, a symbol of unity and ambition, will travel through 17 cities across the Kingdom over the next 30 days.

The relay kicked off with Prince Fahd bin Saad passing the torch to Ahmed Eid, the first elected president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, and then to taekwondo champion Dunya Abu Taleb.

“It’s an indescribable feeling to carry the torch and be part of such a prestigious event,” said Abu Taleb. The relay aligns with the Year of the Camel, reflecting the nation’s cultural heritage and the enduring spirit of friendship and peace.

Ahmed Eid expressed his pride and gratitude for carrying the torch, emphasizing the importance of sports in fostering growth and competition. He highlighted the diverse range of sports featured in the Games, including football, combat sports, and Paralympic events.

Dunya Abu Taleb offered advice to aspiring athletes, urging them to remain ambitious and persistent in pursuing their dreams. The Saudi Games, scheduled to begin on October 3rd, promise to be a thrilling showcase of athleticism and sportsmanship.
