Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha, held several high-level meetings at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos. These discussions focused on boosting digital innovation, forming strategic partnerships, and exploring investment opportunities in technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

Expanding Digital Partnerships

During a meeting with Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Prasert Jantararuangtong, the two countries agreed to enhance collaboration in digital infrastructure, innovation, and technical expertise exchange.

A similar dialogue took place with Oscar Lopez, Spain’s Minister of Digital Transformation and Civil Service, where the focus was on leveraging AI for public service efficiency and fostering technical innovation.

Collaboration with Global Tech Leaders

Minister Alswaha engaged with several technology giants to boost Saudi Arabia’s digital economy:

  • Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone, discussed investments aimed at driving innovation and sustainability in AI and technology.
  • Bill McDermott, CEO of ServiceNow, explored partnerships in cloud computing and AI to improve the efficiency of government digital operations.
  • Ruth Porat, President and CIO of Alphabet (Google’s parent company), focused on strengthening ties in AI, cloud computing, and data analysis.
  • Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems, collaborated on developing Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure and building digital capabilities.

Smart Transportation and Space Sector Development

In a meeting with Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, Alswaha discussed opportunities in smart transportation and innovation within the digital economy ecosystem.

To advance the space sector, the minister met with Dylan Taylor, CEO of Voyager Space, to explore innovative technical solutions in space technology, emphasizing human progress in space exploration.

Future of Connectivity

The minister also engaged with Borje Ekholm, CEO of Ericsson, to discuss the development of 5G and 6G technologies, essential for enhancing digital infrastructure and driving innovation.

Strengthening Saudi Arabia’s Digital Economy

These meetings align with Saudi Arabia’s vision to lead in digital transformation and establish itself as a global hub for technology and innovation. Through these partnerships, the Kingdom aims to enhance its digital infrastructure, boost AI integration, and foster innovation across various sectors.
