Saudi Aramco, one of the largest oil companies in the world, began its story in 1933 when Saudi Arabia signed a deal with Standard Oil of California (SOCAL) to explore for oil. This led to the creation of the California Arabian Standard Oil Company (CASOC). Despite initial struggles, the company found its first major oil discovery in 1938 with the Prosperity Well in Dammam, marking a key moment in Saudi Arabia’s rise in the global energy market.

By 1949, Aramco was producing 500,000 barrels of oil daily. The company continued to expand, building pipelines like the Trans-Arabian Pipeline in 1950 and discovering the world’s largest offshore oil field, Safaniyah, in 1951. By 1971, Aramco was shipping over a billion barrels of oil each year, and in 1980, the Saudi government took full control of the company, renaming it Saudi Aramco.

Aramco expanded globally, acquiring stakes in companies in countries like South Korea, the Philippines, and Greece. They also became a leader in technology with innovations like POWERS, GigaPOWERS, and TeraPOWERS, which improved oil extraction and efficiency.

Looking to the future, Saudi Aramco continues to focus on new energy solutions, including reducing emissions and advancing energy efficiency. With a rich history of growth and innovation, Saudi Aramco is committed to leading the world in energy and sustainability.
