Saudi Arabia’s GCA President Joins INTOSAI Board Meeting in Bhutan
Thimphu, Bhutan:Dr. Hussam Alangari, President of Saudi Arabia’s General Court of Audit (GCA), took part in the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) Board Meeting held in Thimphu, Bhutan. He joined board members from several countries including the United Kingdom, Brazil, Norway, Austria, South Africa, Kenya, and the host nation Bhutan.
Dr. Alangari represents the Kingdom on the IDI Board, which works to support public audit institutions around the world, especially in developing countries.
Focus on Audit Support and Development
During the meeting, the board reviewed the progress of the IDI’s programs. These efforts aim to improve the skills and effectiveness of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in member countries. Discussions highlighted how technical support and training programs are helping SAIs perform better and more independently.
The board also talked about future plans and ways to expand support for audit bodies in the coming years.
Key Decisions Made
Several important items were discussed during the session, including:
- Approval of the IDI’s 2024 annual report and financial statements
- Review of the initiative’s financial future
- Updates to the rules for giving financial and technical help to SAIs
- Plans to strengthen audit systems in developing countries
The board agreed on actions to help improve public financial oversight and accountability through better auditing practices.
