Saudi Arabia Witnesses 27% Surge in Train Travel in Q1

Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia’s railway network is experiencing unprecedented growth, with both passenger and cargo figures reaching record highs in the first quarter of 2024.

According to recent data, more than eight million passengers utilized trains during this period, surpassing previous records. This surge was observed across both urban and intercity services.

Saudi Arabia Train Travel: Setting New Records

Urban train services witnessed a notable increase, with over two million passengers commuting within cities, marking a 1.7% rise compared to Q1 2023.

Intercity travel saw even more remarkable growth, with over six million passengers opting for train travel, representing a significant 25.41% jump year-over-year.

The positive trend extends to the cargo sector, with more than six million tons of goods and equipment transported by rail in Q1 2024, reflecting a 10.7% increase over the same period in 2023.

These figures underscore the growing significance of railways in Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure development. In Saudi Arabia, efficient and reliable train services play a pivotal role in supporting various sectors, including industry and tourism.
