Saudi Tourism Revenue Skyrockets
Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector is booming, with inbound tourists spending a staggering $37.6 billion in 2023. The Ministry of Tourism’s annual report reveals that this massive figure is a testament to the kingdom’s growing appeal as a global tourist destination.
Accommodation emerged as the top spending category, capturing over $12 billion of tourist dollars. Shoppers contributed significantly, with spending exceeding $6.8 billion. The kingdom’s culinary scene also thrived, as tourists allocated more than $5.2 billion to food and beverages.
Beyond these key areas, tourists injected over $6.8 billion into the overall economy through miscellaneous spending. Entertainment also played a role, generating $1.1 billion in revenue.
Saudi Arabia’s tourism landscape is evolving rapidly. In 2023 alone, the country welcomed over 27 million international visitors, contributing to a total of 109 million tourists including domestic travelers. These figures underscore the kingdom’s success in positioning itself as a vibrant and attractive destination for global travelers.
The surge in tourist spending is a testament to Saudi Arabia’s strategic investments in tourism infrastructure and experiences. As the kingdom continues to diversify its economy, the tourism sector is poised to play an increasingly vital role in driving growth and job creation.
