Saudi Arabia to Host 2034 FIFA World Cup: A Historic Win

Riyadh: FIFA has officially announced Saudi Arabia as the host of the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The decision was made after a vote by the FIFA General Assembly, marking a significant achievement for the Kingdom on the global stage.

A Landmark Moment

FIFA President Gianni Infantino shared the news, highlighting the support Saudi Arabia received from all continental federations. “The 2034 World Cup will be special as it marks 100 years since the first World Cup in 1930,” Infantino said.

Saudi Arabia’s bid achieved the highest technical evaluation score in FIFA history, earning 419.8 out of 500 points. This result reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to hosting a world-class tournament.

Tournament Details

The 2034 World Cup will feature matches across five cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and Neom. A total of 15 stadiums will host the games, with 10 newly constructed venues and five upgraded facilities in Riyadh and Jeddah.

This will also be the first time a single country hosts the expanded World Cup format, featuring 48 teams, making it the largest tournament in FIFA history.

Journey to Victory

Saudi Arabia’s journey to secure the bid began in July 2023 when FIFA released initial details of the Kingdom’s proposal. On October 9, 2023, the Saudi Football Federation submitted its official bid to FIFA, followed by the launch of its slogan, “Growing. Together.”, and a dedicated website (Saudi2034bid.com) on March 1, 2024.

The 2034 World Cup promises to be a grand celebration, cementing Saudi Arabia’s place in football history and offering fans an unforgettable experience.
