Saudi Arabia Showcases Sustainable Development Efforts at UN Forum

The Saudi Quality of Life Program is playing a leading role in showcasing the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Highlighting Vision 2030 Achievements

The program is participating in the UN’s High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held annually in New York City. This participation allows Saudi Arabia to highlight its progress under Vision 2030, the national development plan focused on diversification and sustainability.

The Quality of Life Program hosted two key events at the forum. The first session, “From Vision to Impact: Integrations for Achieving Sustainable Social and Environmental Change,” aimed to raise awareness about Vision 2030 and the program’s role in driving sustainable development efforts. Discussions centered on tackling urban challenges using innovative practices and data analysis, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in achieving local, regional, and international sustainability goals.

The second program-led event, “Quality of Life and its Link to Sustainable Development,” featured panel discussions and lectures from international experts and Saudi officials. Program Chief Executive Khalid Al-Baker addressed the positive impact of the program on various aspects of life in the Kingdom.

Improving Quality of Life Through Sustainability

Al-Baker emphasized the program’s focus on a wide range of initiatives, including arts and culture, sports, tourism, urban development, and public safety. These initiatives, he explained, contribute to enhancing the quality of life for all Saudi residents. He also highlighted the program’s commitment to innovation, aiming to develop a knowledge system that redefines the concept of quality of life in a sustainable context.

Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

Al-Baker stressed the importance of international partnerships in achieving the SDGs. He specifically mentioned the program’s collaboration with the UN-Habitat program, emphasizing the value of knowledge exchange and joint efforts in building a sustainable future. He called upon forum participants to actively engage in discussions and contribute to finding effective solutions for achieving a prosperous and sustainable future for all.

The forum also addressed other critical topics related to sustainable development. Discussions explored the role of data in urban planning and policymaking, the challenges faced by modern cities, and innovative urban interventions that can enhance quality of life. Success stories of the Quality of Life Program were also shared, showcasing achievements in areas like increasing green spaces, improving municipal services, and promoting community safety.
