PARIS: Saudi Arabia took part in an important international meeting on artificial intelligence (AI) at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The Kingdom was represented by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), which joined experts and regulators from around the world to discuss safe and responsible use of AI technologies.

During the session, Raneem Alkattan, Director of AI Governance at SDAIA, explained how Saudi Arabia is making strong progress in supervising AI. She spoke about new rules and systems the Kingdom has built to make sure AI is safe, including advanced methods for checking algorithms and studying the impact of AI on society. These efforts show the Kingdom’s commitment to using AI responsibly and supporting innovation in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The roundtable covered many important topics, such as how countries can oversee AI, ways to test and monitor AI systems, and how open-source AI models create new challenges for governance. Participants also shared experiences on how AI affects risk management, compliance, and global cooperation.

Saudi Arabia’s role in this event highlights its growing influence in shaping the future of AI worldwide. It also shows the Kingdom’s dedication to supporting the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while continuing its national journey toward building a knowledge-based, sustainable economy under Vision 2030.
