In a significant stride towards realizing the ambitious objectives of Vision 2030, the Saudi Ports Authority has unveiled a new maritime shipping service, named “JDX,” at the Jeddah Islamic Port. This initiative aims to fortify trade relations between the Kingdom and Africa, thereby solidifying Saudi Arabia’s stature as a global logistics hub and leveraging its strategic geographical location.

The newly introduced service, facilitated by the renowned German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, offers regular weekly voyages connecting Jeddah Port with the Tangier Med port in Morocco and the Damietta port in Egypt. With a capacity of up to 4,253 standard containers, this service underscores the Authority’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and connectivity in global supply chains while fostering trade growth between Saudi Arabia and Africa.

Jeddah Port’s recognition on the international stage with prestigious accolades further accentuates its advanced infrastructure and excellence in logistics services. Awards such as the “Advanced Infrastructure” at the Logistics Landmarks Summit 2023, “Port of the Year” at the Transport and Logistics Awards in the UAE, and “Best Port” 2022 at the World Green Shipping Summit in Rotterdam underscore its prominence in the global maritime industry.
