Saudi Arabia Hosts 10th International Holy Quran Competition for Military Personnel in Makkah
Makkah, February 2, 2025 – Under the patronage of Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, inaugurated the 10th International Holy Quran Competition for Military Personnel in Makkah.
Global Participation in Prestigious Quran Competition
The competition, organized by the General Directorate of Religious Affairs of the Armed Forces, has drawn 179 participants from 32 countries. Military personnel from across the world are competing in Quran memorization and recitation, showcasing their dedication to the Holy Book.
Saudi Arabia’s Commitment to the Holy Quran
Speaking at the event, Maj. Gen. Dr. Mesfer Al-Issa, Director General of Religious Affairs of the Armed Forces and Supervisor of the competition, emphasized the Kingdom’s continuous efforts in supporting Quranic education. He highlighted how the leadership remains dedicated to encouraging the memorization, teaching, and recitation of the Quran among military personnel.
Dr. Al-Issa also stated that this competition is unique as it brings together military members from various nations to recite and memorize the Holy Quran. This initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in preserving Islamic traditions and spreading the noble teachings of Islam.
Competition Categories
The competition includes six categories:
- Full Quran Memorization with proper recitation and Tajweed
- Memorization of 20 Juz (Parts) with Tajweed
- Memorization of 10 Juz (Parts) with Tajweed
- Memorization of 5 Juz (Parts) with Tajweed
- Memorization of 3 Juz (Parts) with Tajweed
- Best Quranic Recitation with Tajweed and exceptional performance, read directly from the Holy Quran
