Saudi Arabia Discovers 7 New Oil and Gas Reserves
Saudi Arabia’s energy minister announced a significant discovery of seven new oil and gas deposits across the country. This find strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a major energy producer.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman revealed that Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil giant, discovered these reserves. The discoveries include two unconventional oil fields, a reservoir of light Arabian oil, two natural gas fields, and two natural gas reservoirs.
Eastern Province Yields Oil and Gas
Two unconventional oil fields and one oil reservoir were found in the Eastern Province, a region already known for its vast oil reserves. The “Ladam” and “Al-Farouk” unconventional oil fields hold promise for future production, with initial test wells showing significant flow rates. Additionally, the “Unayzah B/C” reservoir in the “Mazalij” field adds to the light Arabian oil reserves in the region.
Empty Quarter Reveals Natural Gas Potential
The Empty Quarter, a vast desert region in southern Saudi Arabia, yielded significant natural gas discoveries. The “Al-Jahaq” field contains gas in both “Al-Arab-C” and “Al-Arab-D” reservoirs. Similarly, the “Al-Katuf” field holds promise with a high natural gas flow rate, accompanied by condensate. Finally, the “Hanifa” and “Al-Fadhili” reservoirs within the “Asikra” field further enhance the Kingdom’s natural gas reserves.
These discoveries demonstrate Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to exploring and developing its hydrocarbon resources. The new reserves contribute to the country’s energy security and provide valuable resources for domestic and international markets.
