Saudi Arabia announces Eid Al Fitr holiday for government and private sector employees
Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has announced the Eid Al Fitr holiday for employees working in both the government and private sectors across the Kingdom.
The holiday will begin on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, which is the 29th day of Ramadan 1447 AH. The break will last for four days, according to the official announcement made on Wednesday.
Authorities said normal work will start again on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and is one of the most important Islamic celebrations. However, the exact date of Eid will only be confirmed after the sighting of the Ramadan crescent moon.
In the meantime, the United Arab Emirates has also announced its Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule for both government and private sector workers.
For federal government employees in the UAE, the holiday will start on Thursday, March 19, 2026, and continue until Sunday, March 22, 2026. Government offices will reopen on Monday, March 23.
Private sector employees in the UAE will have their Eid break from Thursday, March 19, until Saturday, March 21. Workers who normally work on Sundays will return to their jobs on Sunday, March 22.
Authorities also said that if Ramadan lasts 30 days, the private sector holiday in the UAE will be extended to Sunday, March 22.
The announcements follow the usual holiday rules followed every year for Eid Al Fitr in the region.
