Saudi Arabia and Switzerland Forge Closer Economic Ties

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia and Switzerland are solidifying their economic partnership through a series of high-level meetings and financial dialogues. The recent 4th Saudi-Swiss Financial Dialogue held in Zurich signifies both countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation in finance and economic matters.

Building on a Strong Foundation

The event, inaugurated by Saudi Arabia’s Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan, focused on enhancing economic outlooks, fostering international collaboration, and advancing bilateral economic initiatives. This dialogue comes amidst a well-established trade relationship. In 2023, Saudi Arabia exported over $800 million worth of goods to Switzerland, while Swiss exports to the Kingdom reached nearly $7 billion.

Both countries see significant potential for further collaboration. Minister Al-Jadaan emphasized the Kingdom’s eagerness to explore new areas of cooperation that can further strengthen existing ties. Similarly, a high-profile Swiss business delegation visited Saudi Arabia earlier this year, underscoring the private sector’s keen interest in exploring investment opportunities.

A Strategic Partnership

This growing economic partnership is bolstered by regular communication between government officials. In November 2022, the Swiss Finance Minister signed a cooperation agreement paving the way for the 3rd Saudi-Swiss Financial Dialogue. During his visit to Riyadh, he commended the strength of the Saudi economy and highlighted Switzerland’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.
