Hamburg: Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, the Acting President of Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA), has been chosen as the new Chair of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Division of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). He will serve in this important role until the year 2028.

The election took place during a big transport conference in Hamburg, Germany. Many transport leaders and experts from different countries attended the event. Al-Rumaih got the highest number of votes, which shows how much people trust him and his work in transport.

Al-Rumaih was chosen because he has a lot of experience. He has helped build modern transport systems in Saudi Arabia and has worked on many national projects. He also speaks for Saudi Arabia at international meetings. People respect him for caring about the environment and making sure public transport is safe, clean, and easy for everyone to use.

At the conference, Al-Rumaih thanked everyone who voted for him. He said he looks forward to working with other experts to share ideas and make public transport better for all.

In his speech, he said, “Public transport is not just about buses and trains. It’s about helping people get where they need to go easily, safely, and fairly.” He talked about the big changes happening in the transport world, like electric buses, new metro systems, and ways to make travel smoother from start to finish.

He also spoke about the Riyadh Metro, one of the largest public transport systems in the world. It began full operation this year and has already changed how people in the city travel. Many people are using it every day, showing that when transport is good, people are happy to use it.

Al-Rumaih finished by saying that building great transport systems takes teamwork. Governments, companies, and communities all need to work together. He believes the UITP group will help bring everyone together to make transport in the region better and more sustainable for the future.

This news shows a big step forward for Saudi Arabia in the world of public transport and proves that smart, caring leadership can make a real difference.
