Riyadh Set to Join the World’s Top 10 Cities, Says SCEGA Chairman

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Fahd bin Abdulmohsen Al-Rasheed, Chairman of the Saudi Conventions and Exhibitions General Authority (SCEGA), announced that Riyadh is on track to rank among the top 10 cities worldwide. Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference, Al-Rasheed highlighted Saudi Arabia’s rapid growth, especially in non-oil sectors, which expanded by 7%, marking a major step forward in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

A Booming Events Sector under Vision 2030

Al-Rasheed shared that Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 has given a boost to the exhibitions and conferences sector, with over 17,000 events held in 2023 alone. The aim is to reach 40,000 events by 2030, which will place Riyadh as a leading global hub for conventions and exhibitions. This growth not only strengthens the local economy but also raises Saudi Arabia’s position on the global stage.

The chairman emphasized the importance of Saudi Arabia hosting Expo 2030, under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This global event, he stated, will bring nations together, showcasing a shared vision of progress and innovation, aligning perfectly with Saudi Arabia’s forward-looking goals.

AI to Transform Riyadh’s Future

Al-Rasheed also noted the essential role of artificial intelligence (AI) as cities worldwide move deeper into the digital age. AI is transforming how cities adapt and how people work, and events like the FII rely on technical innovation. He highlighted that embracing creative thinking and advanced technology is key to shaping the future of Riyadh.

With these advancements, Riyadh is set to emerge as a global leader, with Vision 2030 paving the way for a sustainable and innovative future.
