Ras Al Khaimah Police have successfully thwarted a major fireworks operation, seizing a staggering 18.5 tonnes of illegal fireworks from a farm. This massive haul translates to 1,038 boxes of fireworks, highlighting the significant scale of the operation.

The bust was prompted by a tip received by the Criminal Investigation Department. Their surveillance efforts led them to a small house within the emirate, where the suspect was believed to be illegally selling fireworks. Following confirmation, the team swiftly moved in and seized the prohibited materials stored on the property.

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, commended the team for their vigilance and successful operation. He also took this opportunity to remind residents of the dangers associated with fireworks and the strict regulations in place within the UAE. Those caught trading, importing, exporting, or manufacturing fireworks face hefty fines of no less than Dh100,000 and potential prison sentences of at least one year.
