Perplexity AI Offers $34.5 Billion to Buy Google’s Chrome Browser

Washington: Perplexity AI has made a $34.5 billion offer to buy the Chrome browser from Google, which is part of Alphabet. The offer is seen as modest compared to Chrome’s huge reach but is still more than twice Perplexity AI’s own value of $14 billion.
Perplexity wants to use Chrome’s massive audience of over 3 billion users to get ahead in the artificial intelligence search competition. The offer comes at a time when Google is facing legal challenges and is appealing a U.S. court decision that said it had unfairly controlled internet search.
According to Reuters, people familiar with the matter say that several investment funds are ready to provide full financing for the deal.
