Pakistan-UAE Cooperation Strengthens Women’s Empowerment and Sustainable Development
Dubai: Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted the decades-long partnership between the two nations in promoting women’s empowerment. Speaking at the Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2024, he emphasized how this collaboration has enhanced opportunities for women in education, health, and the workplace.
Celebrating Women Leaders
The Ambassador expressed pride in the participation of Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan’s First Lady, at the forum. Her presence underscored women’s pivotal role in driving progress across economic, social, and political spheres.
In his remarks to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), he noted that Pakistan made history as the first South Asian country to elect a female Prime Minister. “My mother, Benazir Bhutto, was the first woman from the Islamic world to achieve this milestone,” he said.
Women in Leadership
Tirmizi also highlighted Pakistan’s other achievements in women’s leadership. He pointed out that the country elected its first female Speaker of the National Assembly and currently has women in high-ranking roles such as Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Additional Foreign Secretary. Additionally, 22 of Pakistan’s 80 ambassadors worldwide are women.
While celebrating these accomplishments, he acknowledged the need for continued efforts to improve women’s representation in all sectors.
