Why Brent matters in Gulf coverage
Brent is a widely followed international benchmark and a useful reference when reading energy-market news from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. WTI reflects the US market and often moves differently because of location, quality and storage conditions.
Dubai and Oman benchmarks
Middle East crude sold into Asian markets is often discussed with Dubai and Oman benchmarks. Those assessed prices are separate from Brent and WTI and are generally distributed through licensed market-data services. This page labels the series precisely so readers are not shown a Brent value under a misleading “Dubai crude” heading.
What the figures show and do not show
The table converts the two published spot benchmarks into Gulf currencies for comparison. It does not estimate government revenue, official selling prices, fuel subsidies, freight, refinery margins or retail petrol and diesel prices.
