Noura Al Kaabi leads UAE delegation at 10th Global Forum of UNAOC
Cascais, Portugal: Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the UAE delegation at the 10th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC). The event, hosted in Cascais, Portugal, ran from November 25 to 27, focusing on fostering global unity and understanding across cultures.
Promoting Peace and Dialogue Under the Theme “United in Peace”
The forum, organized by the Government of Portugal, aimed to reduce global divisions and create inclusive societies. High-level leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, interfaith representatives, and civil society members, discussed ways to strengthen trust and shape a more peaceful future.
UAE’s Commitment to Cultural Harmony
In her address during the High-level Meeting of the UNAOC Group of Friends, Noura Al Kaabi highlighted the UAE’s efforts to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence. She noted that the UAE, with its diverse population of over 200 nationalities, considers dialogue and understanding essential for stability and development.
Al Kaabi celebrated the adoption of the Cascais Declaration, emphasizing the importance of combating intolerance and hate speech while promoting cultural and religious heritage. She referenced the UAE’s partnership with UNESCO’s “Revive the Spirit of Mosul” initiative, where the UAE contributed USD 50.4 million to restore cultural landmarks.
A Call for International Cooperation
The Minister urged UN member states and other groups to work together to strengthen bonds of friendship and cooperation. She reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to building a future of peace, tolerance, and progress through international collaboration.
