Davos, January 24, 2025: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, participated in a session at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, Switzerland. The session, titled “Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu: A Sustainable Model for Managing Industrial Cities,” was part of the Saudi House initiative at the annual event.
During the session, Alkhorayef highlighted the impressive achievements of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, attributing its success to a clear strategic vision. He explained that the Commission focuses on long-term planning and international partnerships, working closely with renowned global companies like Parsons and Bechtel.
The minister shared how Jubail Industrial City has transformed over the years from a desert into a world-class industrial hub. Today, the city boasts advanced infrastructure, top-quality education, and healthcare services.
Alkhorayef emphasized the role of the Royal Commission in supporting new economic sectors, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its economy. He also noted the Commission’s work in ensuring sustainability and reducing government dependency by privatizing key sectors, including healthcare and education, with a goal of achieving financial independence by 2030.
The session also reviewed the Commission’s 50-year experience in managing industrial cities and discussed future opportunities and challenges in building sustainable industrial areas.
This significant discussion highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and economic growth on a global stage.
